• Scope 2 – indirect emissions fromelectricity and fuel consumption (production
and transportation of electricity and Towngas used by the schools.)
• Scope 3 – other indirect emissions (water usage/discharge, paper
consumption, business travel by employees; transportation of products,
materials, people or waste by third parties; outsourced activities; GHG
emissions arising from the production and distribution of energy products
other than those covered under Scope 2; GHG emissions from production of
purchased materials and products.)
GHG Reduction Methods
GHG reduction methods include:
Scope 1
• When cooking with gas ranges, select efficient flame burner and those
closest match to pot size. Heat is lost and energy is wasted if burner size is
larger than pot size;
• Increasing planting area or planting new trees can remove carbon dioxide
from the atmosphere through photosynthesis; and
• Reduce travel time and distance by better routing and time management for
school excursions.
