Green School Movement in Hong Kong
Schools in Hong Kong are increasingly receptive to improving their buildings’
energy efficiency and lessening their overall impact to the environment. Since
the Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF) introduced the minor works
funding scheme in 2008, about 490 or 40% of primary and secondary schools
in Hong Kong have obtained funding from the ECF for their green facilities,
including green roofs, renewable energy systems, energy efficient installations,
etc.

Assessment Systems
Over the past two decades, the need to protect our
environment is increasingly being recognised by
individuals, households, cities and countries, which
drives many countries to introduce green building
assessment systems for fostering the creation
of sustainable, healthy and productive building
environments.
