Statutory Requirements
School buildings in Hong Kong are subject to the same set of controls and
statutory requirements as any other building types. These requirements are
promulgated by the Buildings Department, the Lands Department, the Fire
Services Department, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department,
the Environmental Protection Department, the Planning Department and other
government departments.
Schools are recommeded to seek professional advice fromAuthorised Persons,
who are also BEAM Professionals when considering alteration or addition
building works in school buildings. Please refer to Appendix A for the list of
registered professionals.
