Hong Kong Green School Guide
In fact, an increasing number of schools are
adopting green technologies and designs to
create quality learning environment for students.
Anticipating the needs of schools for practical
guidance, this Guide is introduced to provide
ideas and guidance on design, construction and
operation of various green features, so as to
facilitate school masters, teachers and students
to transform their schools into green learning
environment. Ultimately, the benefits of green
schools go far beyond the immediate outcome
of a healthier and more sustainable learning
and teaching environment. The transformation
process offers a great opportunity to engage
students and teachers to nurture the love of
environment through real-life experience.
The Guide could not be produced without the
passion and enthusiasm of the members of
HKGBC Steering Committee, which is a wonderful
team of green building experts and key educational
stakeholders from the government and schools. I
would like to take this opportunity to express my
sincere gratitude to all members of the Steering
Committee and all those organisations and
individuals who have made valuable contributions
to the successful completion of this Guide. Finally,
I would also like to thank for the funding support
from Construction Industry Council (CIC).
We hope you would find this Guide informative and
useful. Together we can make a big difference.
Let’s join hands to strive for a sustainable and
quality environment for our community and
children.
