Freezing of BEAM Plus Registration Fees

02 Apr 2019

The Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) would like to announce that the Registration Fees for all BEAM Plus schemes would be frozen at the current level till 31 May 2020.

This decision has been made in view of the current economic situation.  The HKGBC has made arrangement to absorb the extra costs arising from inflation and service enhancements through other non-registration fee incomes.

The HKGBC is mindful of customers’ concern on the cost of obtaining BEAM Plus certification and for this reason, the Council has always been managing costs closely and operating on a non-profit-making principle.  Income arising from BEAM Plus registration is used to fund various green building initiatives, including inter alia:
  • Continual development of rating tools, e.g. the granting of funds to BEAM Society Ltd (BSL) for developing BEAM Plus New Buildings Version 2.0;
  • Enhancement of services, e.g. the introduction of free plaque production service in 2018 and BEAM Plus Project Online Account in 2019;
  • Public education, e.g. the production of educational videos related to green buildings and maintenance of BEAM Plus Online Exhibition website;
  • Capacity building, e.g. the provision of assessor training to BSL to help building up a strong in-house assessment team.
The HKGBC will continue to offer Registration Fee concession to eligible NGOs while other parties such as CLP Power HK Ltd are also offering subsidies/incentives for BEAM Plus applicants.  Interested parties can browse these subsidies/incentives at the following website: https://www.hkgbc.org.hk/eng/Incentives_Funding.aspx
