Municipal solid waste treatment is one of the major environmental concerns in town. To raise the public awareness on waste reduction, the HKGBC launched the “Waste Reduction for All” Mobile Game Design Competition for Tertiary Students of which mobiles games are designated for cultivating knowledge of primary and secondary students. Through interactive mobile games, the Competition aims to encourage students to further promote environmental protection in the future.
The Competition was open for all eligible tertiary students. Tertiary students were invited to submit mobile game entries based on the Competition theme - “Waste Reduction for All”, to present their creativity on waste reduction measures and to elevate public awareness on the theme. Entrants may also enrich their knowledge of the “5R” concepts (Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, Replace and Recycle) on waste reduction through conducting research during the design process.
After the jury and student assessments, “Recycling Factory” and “Recycle Ranger” were awarded the Champion and 1st Runner-up of the Competition respectively and both are now available on Google Play for public download to further promote the concepts on waste reduction.

Due to overwhelming response, all prizes of the 1st round of “Waste Reduction for All” Mobile Game Contest have been redeemed. The HKGBC is now launching the 2nd round of the Contest. From now on, the first three users who successfully achieving required targets in each game would be eligible to redeem a HKGBC reusable shopping bag or a HKGBC vest with signature of C Allstar at our office during office hours (from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday).
