Green Building Technical Visits & Meetings

Join the technical visits to discover the green and sustainable features of selected new and existing buildings, as well as outstanding community redevelopment projects, and the noteworthy operation practices. It will also be an excellent opportunity to meet government officials and leading industry stakeholders in Japan to know more about their green initiatives and experience, as well as the city’s green building landscape.

Visits and Meetings Highlights:

Shimizu Corporation Headquarters

The building adopted “Radiation Air Conditioning System” (RACS), which is also the first in Japan to introduce RACS concept for high-rise building, to achieve energy efficiency.

Also, the energy source of the building combines into District Heating and Cooling plant (DHC) and as a result, the building can reduce 61% annual energy consumption compared to general buildings in 2015.

Shinryo Headquarter Building

The headquarter Building is completed for over 40 years with renovation in 2011. The key objective of the renovation is to achieve energy saving and the energy consumption of the building as a whole reduced by 46% compared to the period before renovation. It also achieved “ZEB-oriented” status compared to a standard building.

YKK 80

YKK 80 is the headquarters of YKK Corporation which manufactures and sells fastening and architectural products worldwide. It is the first office building in Japan to obtain top LEED – BD+C (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – Building Design + Construction) Certification (Platinum). This project is outstanding as a high-performing thermal and energy-saving design project.

Nikken Sekkei’s "Takebashi Office"

Nikken Sekkei, a famous architectural design company, opened a satellite office at its Tokyo headquarter, namely the “Takebashi Office”, on the 8th floor of the Palace Side Building.

Serving as the office space for people with different areas of expertise, it is also the touchdown office for Nikken Sekkei Group employees. The office entrance, a collaboration space titled, “Knowledge Garden 809”, functions as a gallery, café and event hall.

Tokyo Garden Square

Tokyo Garden Square office building obtained CASBEE's highest ranking "S", and DBJ Green Building Certification’s ranking of "Platinum". With the introduction of advanced environmental technologies, the building aims to reduce CO2 emissions by about 45% while maintaining a comfortable office environment.

Besides, the building complex is surrounded by lush greenery covering the building from the basement to its sixth floor. A greenery space namely “Kyobashi no Oka” of 3,000 square meter in area further contributes to cooling of Central Tokyo.

Shibuya Stream

Shibuya Stream is one of the major re-development projects around Shibuya station. One of main features of this project is that it involves the regeneration of a canal. It is flanked by a 600-meter walkway along the banks of the unenclosed Shibuya River. There are trees along the entire length of footpath, creating a unique greenspace among the high-rise buildings.

Meeting with Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG)

Meeting with corresponding bureau and departments of TMG will be arranged to learn more about their “Cap-and-Trade Programme”, an initiative to reduce carbon dioxide emissions launched in 2010.

Meeting with Institute for Building Environment and Energy Conservation (IBEC)

Meeting with IBEC will be arranged to discuss on CASBEE (Comprehensive Assessment System for Built Environment Efficiency), assessment system on evaluating and rating the environmental performance of buildings and the built environment.

The above locations and meetings are subject to change. Final programme will be updated on this webpage and registered delegates would be informed.
