Supported by the Hong Kong Green Building Council, the 2018 ASHRAE Handbook - Refrigeration Technical Workshop Series: Ice Rink Design – Advanced Level would be held in Hong Kong on 23 May 2019 (Thursday).
Based on ASHRAE Handbook 2018 – Refrigeration, you will develop an understanding of the field of refrigeration, including but not limited to: comfort cooling or air conditioning, commercial refrigeration and industrial refrigeration. The technical workshop series will refresh your knowledge from an understanding of basic principles to their application in real-world situations.
The technical workshop of "Ice Rink Design" on 24 January 2019 gave a quick introduction to Chapter 44 of the ASHRAE Refrigeration Handbook, i.e. ice rinks. This workshop is an advanced level to take a deeper look into design of ice rinks. The following areas will, in particular, be covered in greater details:
- Radiation heat transfer
- Condensation problem on surrounding building fabric
- Secondary coolant system vs liquid overfeed system
An introduction to Chapter 4 of the ASHRAE Refrigeration Handbook on liquid overfeed system will also be given.
