[Hong Kong] Water Forum 2019: Climate Risk, Coastal Preparedness, Financial Implications for Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area

Supported by the Hong Kong Green Building Council, the Water Forum 2019: Climate Risk, Coastal Preparedness, Financial Implications for Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area would be held in Hong Kong on 22 March 2019 (Friday).

Beached yachts, torn up pavements, and devastated coastlines – Typhoon Mangkhut once again demonstrated how vulnerable Hong Kong is against climate change. Global warming will worsen flood events by making them more frequent and severe. By 2100, what we call 50-year floods would reoccur every three years or less in Hong Kong. How do we transform Hong Kong into a resilient city under the imminent threat of climate change? Friends of the Earth (HK) is going to organise the 6th Water Forum under the theme of "Climate Risk, Coastal Preparedness, Financial Implications for Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area" on 22 March, the World Water Day. Experts and stakeholders including academics and industry professionals will share insight and exchange views on how Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area can become climate ready.
