2.8 Building Controls Roadmap
Buildings Department
The Guidelines on Design and Construction
Requirements for Energy Efficiency of
Residential Buildings has come into effect in
2014. The Guidelines provide a means for
designers to quantify a particular building
design’s ability to facilitate behaviour
change by reducing air-conditioning loads
and operation hours. It covers reduction
of façade heat gain and natural ventilation,
which are governed by RTTV and NV
methodologies, respectively.
In the first stage, RTTV will be limited to
14 W/sqm, while only reporting is required
for NV. As the scheme matures, RTTV will
be made increasingly stringent, eventually
reduced. The evolution of NV control
measures will be reviewed as more data is
collected through the scheme.
