• BEC and building controls

– As described

in the previous section, it is necessary for

building control measures to undergo a

series of periodic review and upgrade:

BEC, OTTV, RTTV, NV, SBD Guidelines

and also the myriad of performance

based assessment. We must ensure that

BEAM Plus is kept up to date with this

evolution;

• GBP and OP process

– further

strengthening of how the BEAM Plus

process intertwines with the GBP and

OP process to ensure actual delivery of

performance; and

• Benchmarking tool

– performance

verification

will

require

close

coordination with the development of

benchmarking tool. It is unreasonable

to expect the building energy models

submitted during design stage can

accurately reflect the actual energy

consumption of a building. To reconcile

this, actual operation data collected

post-occupation can be used to revisit

the assumptions made during design

stage. Discrepancies between the energy

model and actual consumption can then

be used to identify inefficiencies or

areas where operation deviated from

design intention. These discrepancies

should be subsequently rectified before

final award of certification.

Strengthening the coordination between tools, regulations and assessments
