5.2.1 Energy Audit
Key Points
• Two approaches to conduct energy audit for
schools;
• A simple approach is to monitor and compare
the energy (electricity and gas) consumption,
number of students and teachers, number of
appliances, floor area, etc., then review the
energy consumption pattern annually;
• A detailed approach involves monitoring the energy consumption and
operation pattern on individual building systems, air conditioning, lighting,
hot water, etc. (refer to Energy Meters section in this Guide);
• Power utilities companies in Hong Kong offer energy audit services to school
without charge; and
• Energy audit enables school to compare with other schools on amount of
energy consumption.
