Getting Students Involved with Energy Conservation
Bertschi Elementary School in the USA
The Bertschi Center is an extension of the existing Bertschi Elementary
School. The Center installed photovoltaic panels which supply 6.1% of
energy used in the school. To make this feature visible to students, some
of the panels are integrated into the canopy structure.
An interactive kiosk located in the Center’s lobby tracks energy generated
by the photovoltaic panels in real time, and collects data from the weather
station installed on the roof. This helps raise awareness amongst students
on energy conservation and promote positive behavioural changes.

Photovoltaic (PV) Panels Cut Energy Bills
A school in which PV panels are installed can generate about 130kWh
per month, thus saving $130 per month in electricity.
