CIC Zero Carbon Building
ZCB零碳建築
The Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) of 1.4 hectare is a show case
for green building approach and implementation, demonstrating
eco-building design and technology. In a densely populated
area like Hong Kong, this ZCB is a ‘Green Oasis’, a good
catalyst in driving behaviour change. The purpose of the
building is for exhibition covering a number of concepts that can
be practically implemented including for example, zero carbon,
sustainable water, zero waste, urban woodland. The energy is
saved by various measures down to 86kWh/m2/year: natural
ventilation using wind catcher, high performance façade for solar
shading, efficient high volume low speed ceiling fans, underfloor
air delivery with radiant cooling. Thus some 75% more energy
utilization is achieved as compared with the traditional approach.
The ZCB is surrounded by over 200 trees. In terms of energy
to be supplied, it is come from renewable energy, generated by
biodiesel and photo voltaic. These renewable energy systems
are sufficient to cover the normal running and extra energy
feeding back to the grid to offset the energy embedded in the
materials and energy consumed during construction. The
Building Management System with 2800 sensors will be the key
monitoring to ensure and prove how this ZCB can achieve zero
carbon emission.
這棟佔地一點四公頃的零碳建築,正好展示了現時綠色
建築的方向和實施,把生態建築的概念和科技實踐出
來。在高人口密度的香港,這棟零碳建築簡直是一個城
市的綠洲,一個推動城市習慣改變的催化劑。而這棟建
築的目的就是為了展現如何把數個概念應用在實際環境
上,包括零排碳,水循環,零廢棄及城市木林區。此
外,通過不同的方式去減少能源使用至86kWhrs/m2/
year,包括使用集風口達到自然通風的效果,高性能建
築立面來遮光,低速高效能吊扇,地牢空氣傳送連輻射
冷房系統。所以,此零碳建築的能源利用,比起傳統的
方式,多出七十五百分比以上,不但如此,此建築更被
超過二百棵樹圍繞著。在能源供應方面,所攸用的是可
再生能源,生物柴油和太陽能光電系統。此類的可再生
能源系統足以支持整棟建築的正常運作,而多餘的能源
會反饋到極板網柵,抵消物料中和建造時所用的能源。
而為了更有效地確定及證明此棟零碳建築能達到零排碳
的目標,在建築物管理與控制系統中,會有二千八百個
感應器去進行主要的監測工作。

This is a very attractive and iconic university facility complex,
environmentally well designed and integrated into the given
long and narrow site of former parking lots along a street. As an
academic initiative, periodical post occupancy evaluations are
expected to be reported for participatory facility management
involving the students and other stakeholders.
新建的香港城市大學教學及行政大樓是一個非常吸引而且
具標誌性的大學綜合設施。此大樓運用了環保的設計概
念,大樓更與從前長而窄的停車場合併。身為一個教育的
設施,預期定時的職位評估是需要報告予參與設施的管
理,包括 學生和其他持分者。
Cruise Terminal Building for
the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Development

The design of the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal Building and Ancillary
Facilities has embedded a number of sustainable elements
addressing Anatomy, Physiology and Society aspects. It adopts
an innovative long span, modular structural approach suitable
for pre-cast construction. Low impact construction is adopted
where materials selected is of high recycle content. Curtain
wall is designed for high-performance and climate-responsive
concept with smart glazing arrangement and utilising skylights
between atria. The Building Information Model tool is adopted to
prevent waste and to detect possible clash. Public engagement
is involved in adding value for the project development.
啟德郵輪碼頭及其附屬設施的設計不論在解剖,生理及社
會方面加入了多個可持續發展的元素。此項目採取了一個
適合預製建造而創新的寬跨距設計概念。所選取的建造物
料也是含有高再生成分比例,大大減低對環境的影響。就
連幕牆也採用了高性能及氣候調節概念及流線型遮光的設
計,並且在中庭之間引入自然光。而透過建築資訊模型,
郵輪碼頭更可避免廢棄物製造和檢測有可能的不協調。公
眾的參與也能提升整個規劃的附加值。

Holiday Inn Express Hong Kong SoHo is designed and built with
a sustainable building concept for hotel building. The hotel is
particularly successful in energy saving. Major energy efficiency
strategies includes water cooled chiller, chiller sequence control,
cooling tower sequence control, chilled water pump sequence
and speed control, chilled water flow by-pass flow control, water
pump sequencing control, smart intelligent fan coil units, heat
pump water heating, etc.Energy saving is also achieved by using
large glazed windows to facilitate natural lighting. Solar water
heater system is also implemented for central hot water supply.
With all the energy saving features, the hotel consumes nearly
60% less in comparison with the benchmark value in Hong
Kong. The hotel also manages to have small carbon footprint by
using green construction materials, rainwater recycle and waste
management.The indoor environment quality is maintained high
by effective indoor air control and noise control.This project won
the Green Building Merit Award.

源效益策略包括水泠式空調系統,冷凍調較控制,冷卻塔
時序控制,冷凍水泵時序及速度控制,冷水分流管的水流
