The result of a multi-disciplinary design team taking an holistic
integrated approach, this masterplan incorporates a broad
range of sustainability measures which, taken together make it a
well deserved recipient of the Grand Award in this category. The
overall concept signals a culture change not only in relation to
the sustainability of the Science Park campus, but also arguably
to the sustainability of the whole of the Hong Kong commercial
and institutional building stock. The plan incorporates all the
fundamental early design stage moves that one would expect of
a properly framed low energy development. The intention is that
prospective tenants commit to a green lease. A tri-generation
plant is proposed, with the individual buildings metered and
sub-metered to enable demand side management processes
to be instituted. This plant has provision for the use of a range
of fuel sources, and for the possibility of its distribution systems
being extended to earlier phases of the campus. The plan
also incorporates rainwater harvesting, construction waste
management, and extensive landscaping. These, and other
characteristics and features of the masterplan, too numerous to
mention in this brief citation, made this entry a clear choice for
the Grand Award in this category.
這個項目乃設計團隊採用整體綜合概念而締造的成果,
設計藍圖售結眾多可持續發展理念,贏得大獎殊榮可謂
實至名歸。項目整體概念反映科學園以至整個香港商業
及機構建築環境可持續發展文化的重大變遷。項目策劃
覆蓋所有節約能源發展建築的基本早期設計,旨在讓租
戶能看到項目對推行環保的決心。項目亦建議採用熱電
冷聯產系統,個別大廈均設置設獨立計算器,準確量度
用戶需求。項目建議使用某些能源,並拓展至科學園其
他範團。項目更包括雨水收集、建築廢料管理及大範圍
園林策劃。以上種種再加上於此引文中難以盡述的其他
內涵,清晰引證這是評番團就大獎得主的不二之選。

Despite the constraints of the predetermined layout of the
existing HKIA complex, the integrated approach taken by this
design team has resulted in what will be an elegant addition
to the airport facilities. The opportunity was taken to exploit
the potential for daylighting using a system of north-lights, in
combination with carefully sized and appropriately shaded east
and west facing windows. While many sustainability features
have been incorporated into the building, the designers were
justifiably proud of the system of water cooling and recycling,
with mains water only available as back-up. The panel was
unanimous in recommending this design receive a Merit Award.
儘管受香港國際機場現存的型態所規範,此設計團隊採
取宏觀策略,建成大樓將成為現有機場上的矚目建築。
建基於精密計算,項目巧妙地運用面向東方及西方的窗
戶,採納最多的自然光。項目包含眾多可持續發展概
念,當中設計者最引以為傲是其使用的水冷及循環再用
系統,讓主要水源只需作後備之用。評審團對頒發優累
獎予此項目達成一致共識。
