Hong Kong Green Building Week 2016 - Mini LegCo & Youth Forum (10 Sep)
A total of 42 secondary students joined the Mini LegCo & Youth Forum of the Hong Kong Green Building Week (HKGBW) 2016 on 10 September. They took different roles including the LegCo President, LegCo members and Government officials for a mock motion debate on whether to introduce a mandatory emission cap-and-trade programme for commercial buildings in Hong Kong.
Following the debate, Secretary for the Environment Mr Wong Kam-sing, GBS, JP, had a fruitful discussion with students on recent local issues related to the environment in the “Dialogue with the Secretary” session. As moderated by the veteran journalist Mr So King-hang, the Secretary responded to students’ questions in details from different perspectives, encouraging students to be concerned more about the environmental issues. The Secretary and students also enjoyed a relaxing tea gathering afterwards.
