Our Young Green Building Ambassadors gathered at the Legislative Council Complex for a fierce mock debate on whether the Government should raise the levy of Construction Waste Disposal Charging Scheme. Students were all well-prepared and expressed their different perspectives on the motion to convince the others in the chamber. The mock motion was passed with 14 voting in favour and 12 against.
Veteran journalist Mr Joseph Tse Chi-fung moderated a fruitful discussion between the students and the Secretary for the Environment during the “Dialogue with the Secretary” session that followed the debate. Students paid particular attention on the controversial waste management policy and the Secretary gave detailed response, making the programme not only an activity to increase students’ awareness on sustainability, but also a channel for communication between the government and the young generation.
