Prof David Grahame Shane

Diploma in Architecture from the Architectural Association (1969); Master of Architecture in Urban Design from Cornell University (1971); PhD. in Architectural and Urban History from Cornell University (1978). Grahame has taught design at the Architectural Association, Bennington College, Cornell University, Rice University, Columbia University, and the University of Pennsylvania. He has been guest lecturer at the Bartlett School of Architecture Graduate Urban Design Program, Milan Polytechnic and University of Venice IAUV. In addition, he has lectured extensively in Europe, the United States and Asia on architecture and urbanism, and has published widely in architectural journals including Lotus, Casabella, Architectural Design, A+U, Harvard Design Magazine, Journal of Architectural Education, and Architects Newspaper. He has been included in many anthologies, including The Landscape Urbanism Reader (2006). He is the author of Recombinant Urbanism: Conceptual Modeling in Architecture, Urban Design and City Theory (2005) and Urban Design Since 1945; A Global Perspective (2011). He was co-editor of the AD Special Issue Sensing the 21st Century City: Upclose and Remote (2005) and co-editor with Brian McGrath of Contemporary Urban Theory, Volume 8 of the multi-volume Handbook of Architectural Theory (2011).
