HK3030 Stakeholder Engagement – Business Luncheons

As an industry-based overarching body promoting green buildings in Hong Kong, HKGBC is keen to collaborate with key industry stakeholders and the Hong Kong SAR Government in putting forward strategies to accelerate the market transformation to a sustainable built environment. Following to the consultation paper of Council Sustainable Development, HKGBC would like to present a paper to put forth a proposed roadmap towards a low carbon sustainability built environment in Hong Kong by setting an achievable target on the demand side management of electricity consumption to reduce 30% of the absolute amount of the electricity used in buildings in 2030 as compared to 2005 level, i.e. HK3030 Campaign.

HKGBC would like to propose an aggressive but achievable target via this HK3030 Campaign. This will certainly need a concerted effort from the different stakeholders and therefore, a series of stakeholder engagement exercise will be held to collect different views to bring great benefits to the society and to create a better Hong Kong for our future generations to live.

The engagement with industry stakeholders is crucial to the success of this citywide electricity saving campaign. Therefore, with the recognition of the green organizations in Hong Kong, the stakeholder engagement exercise will be a great asset to the HKGBC in refining our proposal to the Government to foster a more sustainable built environment of Hong Kong.

HKGBC organised three successful HK3030 Business Luncheons for HKGBC standing committee members, professional institutions and green groups. Different industry stakeholders on behalf of their professional areas gave valuable suggestions and their great support in driving Hong Kong to achieve "the reduction target 30% of the electricity used in building in 2030 as compared to 2005 level in HK3030 campaign". Apart from HKGBC, we would also like to encourage different key stakeholders from the government, developers, contractors and building professionals, financial institutions, education institutions, others non-government organizations and the general public to support HK3030 Campaign in the future.
