Waste management is another of the key
items on our environmental agenda. Hong
Kong’s daily per capita domestic waste
generation rate is high compared to other
cities in Asia. Over 13,800 tonnes per day
of solid waste was generated in 2012,
with construction waste accounting for
25 percent. Municipal Solid Waste accounts
for 67 percent. The ’Hong Kong Blueprint for
Sustainable Use of Resources 2013 - 2022‘,
published in May 2013, sets out targets and
strategies for waste reduction.
It is the collective vision of the Government,
business sector, building industry, academia
and the community at large that Hong Kong
should strive to become a world-class model
of a SBE, where high density aligns with
liveability, vitality and low carbon emissions.
