For Conrad, it was his family’s unwavering support that first gave him the
strength to create his vision for a sustainable and green future, a support that
continues to motivate him today. Trained as an engineer, there is also a very
practical side to him: an ever hard-working scholar who leads by example and
does his utmost to fulfill his dreams in life, many of which have already come
true. He believes a dream without action is no different to a song without a
singer. Perhaps this mentality is because Conrad is a contractor by profession
who specialises in building things. Regardless, we can all be grateful that he is
now using this skill to construct a greener society!
It is with a wry smile that Conrad also describes himself as a ‘greedy’ person who
continually craves knowledge. In addition to his two master’s degrees, one in
Foundation Engineering and one in Business Administration, Conrad holds two bachelor’s
degrees in Civil Engineering and Religious Studies. Currently, he is also pursuing his Ph.D.
When it comes to a thirst for knowledge, Conrad truly leads by example.
These passions that drive Conrad forward, his family and his pursuit of knowledge, are his
key motivations when it comes to building a greener future. “We will, without a doubt, need
to contribute a great deal more time, effort and resources to mobilise all sectors of society,”
he remarks. “Any goal is achievable as long as we can find the right channels and engage the
right partners, even when there are obvious obstacles everywhere. But this is also where the
fun is. The sense of accomplishment, when you overcome seemingly insurmountable odds,
is priceless. After all, what is our alternative except being green? I see none. This is the only
way we can move forward.

One day, when all primary school kids understand green living
and can persuade their parents to only live in green buildings,
then I will consider our mission a success. Until then, there is
still a lot of work to be done.
