The Construction Industry Council (CIC) and Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) are delighted to announce our highest Platinum Sponsorship with the World Sustainable Building Conference 2014 (WSB14), scheduled from 28 to 30 October 2014 at Barcelona, Spain. The Sponsorship signifies a remarkable milestone of local green building movement in promoting and accelerating the evolution of sustainable development in the international arena.

Leverage on the CIC and HKGBC’s involvements in the SB series, we have made a strategic move to become the highest Platinum Sponsor of the WSB14, which enables us to engage in high-level participation in the capacity of a full member of its Organising Committee. The CIC and HKGBC will utilise this international platform to share our experiences, knowledge and insight from the development of sustainable green buildings in Hong Kong’s unique, subtropical built environment of high-rise, high density urban area; and in reciprocal, to draw resolutions suitable for the Hong Kong context.

With full support from the Development Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government (HKSARG), the CIC and HKGBC will lead a large delegation comprising senior government officials and important stakeholders of the industry and the academia to the Conference. We are honoured to have Mr Paul Chan Mo-po, MH, JP, Secretary for Development of the HKSARG, to lead the Hong Kong Delegation, and to deliver a keynote speech at the Plenary Global Vision Session of the Conference.

As a Platinum Sponsor, the CIC & HKGBC will engage in organising three debate sessions, each with four speakers to answer the questions posed by the Conference Scientific Committee; in addition to a prominent exhibition space to showcase Hong Kong’s state-of-the-art green building designs and technologies to global visitors at the Innovation Fair, which will take place simultaneously with the Conference. Hong Kong will also publish and distribute the Hong Kong Report on the State of Sustainable Building 2014, to further exchange knowledge with the global counterparts.

The CIC & HKGBC will take the opportunities presented by the WSB14 to establish dialogues and work seamlessly with other committed counterparts worldwide to make this meaningful cause a global success; thus moving a big step forward to the global collective vision of a sustainable built and liveable future across different parts of the world.
