Good news! On 1 January 2019, CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd has launched the CLP Subsidy Scheme for BEAM Plus, which aims to subsidise non-profit-making schools and other registered charitable organisations to achieve green building certification in energy aspect. The HKGBC welcomes the launch of this scheme, which recognises BEAM Plus as Hong Kong’s standard for rating of green buildings. One year earlier, the HKSAR Government’s Electrical and Mechanical Services Department also gave recognition to BEAM Plus by incorporating BEAM Plus as the primary criterion for Hong Kong’s Energy Efficiency Registration Scheme for Buildings.
About BEAM Plus
BEAM Plus is Hong Kong’s recognised standard for rating of green buildings. For the Selective Scheme of BEAM Plus Existing Buildings, the assessment focuses on a selected aspect such as Energy Use. Upon assessment, the building is awarded a rating which can be one of the following: Excellent, Very Good, Good and Satisfactory. Eligibility for the Subsidy
- The applicant is a school or non-governmental organisation registered as a charitable institution or trust of a public character, which is exempt from tax under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance.
- The building has achieved a rating of “Excellent” or “Very Good” under the Energy Use (EU) Aspect of BEAM Plus Existing Buildings V2.0 Selective Scheme during the period 1 January to 31 December 2019 (both dates inclusive).
- The applicant is a registered holder of a CLP electricity account.
- The location of the building to be assessed is the same as the applicant's registered supply address.
The Subsidy Amount
| Excellent Grade under EU Aspect of BEAM Plus EB V2.0 Selective Scheme | 100% of the assessment fee with the subsidy amount capped at HK$100,000 per application. |
| Very Good Grade under EU Aspect of BEAM Plus EB V2.0 Selective Scheme | 50% of the assessment fee with the subsidy amount capped at HK$100,000 per application. |
